Good To Know
The fine print, in plain English.

The bioidentical estradiol we prescribe is compounded by a California-licensed 503A pharmacy specifically for you based on your clinical visit. Compounded medications are not separately approved by the FDA as finished pharmaceutical products. They are legal under federal and California law when prescribed for a specific patient based on a clinical evaluation. Commercially-manufactured FDA-approved options are also available if you prefer; Our NP will discuss both with you.

Hormone therapy involves real benefits and real risks. Our NP takes time on your initial consult to walk through your personal and family history, weigh the considerations, and make sure starting therapy is the right call for you. We aren’t here to push hormone therapy on anyone; we’re here to help you make an informed decision.

Common Questions

The honest answers to what most patients ask.

Do I need progesterone too?

Most women with an intact uterus need progesterone alongside estradiol for endometrial protection. Women who have had a hysterectomy typically take estradiol alone. Our NP will discuss this with you on your initial consult and co-prescribe both medications if needed.

Hormone therapy is typically continued as long as the benefits outweigh the risks, which for most women is many years. We re-evaluate annually and adjust the plan based on your symptoms, labs, and current research.

Yes. The initial 30 to 45 minute video consult with our NP is free. You only pay if you decide to start the program. There’s no obligation and no pressure if it turns out this service isn’t right for you.

No. Pause and Power Health is a telehealth program licensed in California. Patients can be located anywhere in the state, from San Diego to the Bay Area. Your video visit happens wherever you have a private space and an internet connection, and your medication ships to your home.

After your consult, our NP sends the prescription to a California-licensed pharmacy. The pharmacy ships your monthly supply directly to your home with everything you need. A flat $25 monthly shipping fee covers delivery.

Pause and Power Health is a cash-pay practice. We don’t bill insurance directly. On request, we can provide an itemized superbill that you may submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Most patients use HSA or FSA funds toward consultations and medications.
